Moxi laser treatment is a great skin resurfacing treatment option for those who unhappy with the effects that aging has had on their skin. It is a very safe procedure that is effective and recommended for almost every patient, regardless of skin type or skin tone.
A Moxi laser treatment uses a laser to produce gentle, non-invasive energy that is directed into the surface of the skin to even out the overall tone and texture of the skin. Since it uses such as gentle laser treatment, it is a very safe and effective means of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that have developed in small areas of the face to improve the texture of the treated area. The energy that is directed into the skin causes the skin to increase the natural production of collagen, promoting the growth of new skin cells to reduce the appearance of unwanted pigmentation such as age or sun spots, and use the collagen to even out the texture of the skin.
Unlike with treatments such as dermal fillers, where the results can be visible immediately, Moxi laser treatments take around one week before the results will start to develop. Since the results from a Moxi laser treatment are provided by the increased production of collagen and elastin in the treated area, the results will keep developing and the skin will continue to improve until the full results are realized, around three months following the treatment. Many patients will be pleased with the final results just after one treatment, so they will have their full final results after the three-month mark, only really requiring a maintenance or touch-up treatment every 6 to 12 months. For those with more moderate fine lines and hyperpigmentation, 3 to 4 sessions of Moxi spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart in order to achieve their final desired results.
Immediately following the Moxi procedure, it is likely that the treated skin will be red, and this redness will likely persist for 1 to 3 days. Once the redness has started to wear away, the skin will typically peel or flake, and often appear to be a bit darker than your normal skin tone. This too will fade after a couple of days, revealing brighter, smoother, and more evenly toned skin. Sometimes, the laser will leave behind tiny dots, commonly referred to as “mends” which will eventually shed off the skin around the same time as the flaking or peeling. The entire healing process for the first few days will likely feel and appear similarly to a sunburn, with occasionally patients experiencing some swelling an sensations of heat on the skin. It is very important that patients follow all provided instructions and recommendations after their Moxi procedure to ensure that the skin is able to heal properly and to ensure that the final results are as beautiful as possible. The treatment may cause the skin to become fairly dry, so your Moxi provider will likely recommend a high-quality cleanser and moisturizer to use after the appointment.
The Moxi laser treatments are much less invasive and much gentler than many other skin rejuvenation treatments available, making it a safe option for almost anyone who wishes to reduce the appearance of mild to moderate fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. Most other laser skin resurfacing treatments are known for only really being effective and safe on patients with lighter skin tones, however, since the laser used for Moxi treatments is such much gentler than most, it has been FDA-approved to be entirely safe and effective for use on patients of all skin tones, as well as all skin types. Moxi is not typically recommended for patients who have severe effects of aging on their skin, with significant hyperpigmentation and deep creasing, as it is a bit too gentle to be effective for those cases. Your Moxi laser procedure provider will be able to help you determine which type of anti-aging treatment will be the safest and most effective option for you.
