Meet April Umek, PA-C at Pacific Coast Aesthetics in Santa Cruz, Aptos CA

April completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and holds a Master of Science degree from the Physician Assistant program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

As a nationally-accredited Physician Assistant, April’s medical background includes eighteen years of experience in women’s health, including surgery, deliveries, and patient counseling regarding hormonal therapies and other options to address symptoms of all stages of life including menopause. April’s wide range of clinical experience includes eight years of practice in an urban emergency department, four years of practice in a dermatology office, and six years of practice in a medical aesthetics office.

April is knowledgeable and proficient in a broad array of aesthetic treatment options, including neuromodulator (botulinum toxin) and dermal filler injectables, non-ablative laser and light-based therapies (IPL, BBL, laser hair removal, laser vein treatment, fractional laser resurfacing), medical dermatology (photodynamic therapy, microdermabrasion), skin tightening (radiofrequency, ultrasound, BBL), body contouring (Emsculpt), and women’s health (Emsella, DiVa). She has extensive training and experience in the use of Halo, the world’s first and only Hybrid Fractional Laser that minimizes discomfort and post-procedure downtime while maximizing dermatologic results.

April embraces health and wellness in her own life as well. She has participated in the art of yoga for more than fifteen years and has been a yoga instructor for the past ten years. She assists with instructor-training seminars and incorporates meditation and integrated mindfulness into her life and medical practice. For recreation and fitness, she plays ice hockey in a coed league at Sharks ice, as well as for a traveling team and the Northern California Women’s Hockey League. “Hockey and yoga are the yin and yang that keep me balanced and present in life,” she says. “I love the ocean and water sports as well. We’re so close to it here at Seascape Village. I can walk to the beach in a matter of minutes.”
